Luis was born and raised in southern California and moved to Houston to finish school. He graduated from Houston Community College and entered Retail Management, taking him into the retail and sales space. Luis then worked for William Sonoma for three years, learning a lot about customer service and building relationships with customers. 

Then, Luis was recruited by an epoxy residence manufacturing company where he worked for six years and then struck out on his own to install epoxy floors on his own. There he expanded into commercial grocery stores, warehouses, and airports. Since he was interested in flooring and furthering his learning in the industry, Luis took a coating class to get a certification to become a coating inspector. A coating inspector helps the business to check the quality of materials and equipment, observes surface preparation, records atmospheric conditions before application of materials, and conducts adhesion, penetration, and impact tests. Luis was able to learn more about steel planks, metal coatings, and marine coatings and to help the business do the inspecting and selling. Luis was able to be the coating inspector for kitchen floors, aircraft hangars, recreational parks, and residential garage floors. 

After almost 13 years, Luis was ready to stay in the Houston area and work locally. He had worked on some jobs with SaniGLAZE and then joined the previous franchise team shortly after. Since it was the industry he wanted to be in and it was local to his family, it worked out well. 

When Sterling Services acquired the franchise in 2022, Luis knew that Dan wanted a chance to make a change for the better. “When Dan came in, we were able to turn the business around together. It is important to be happy with where you are and with Sterling Services, I always got the support that I needed,” Luis said. 

Luis has always been in sales and estimating management and brings his extensive knowledge to the Sterling Services team. He likes to meet new people and be able to turn old floors into beautiful floors. With Sterling Services, Luis sees the big picture and sees how the company is growing and continues to grow.
