Get to know our team members here at Sterling Services! We spoke with Darrell Gibbs, our regional manager in Dallas, Texas to learn more about his life and how he ended up at Sterling Services.
Darrell was born and raised in Odessa TX, which is a small city about five hours west of Dallas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Exercise & Sports Sciences. Originally, Darrell wanted to get into coaching or the allied healthcare field. However, when he graduated he moved back home which is a predominantly oil-field country, and began working as a field engineer for an oil company. Darrell did have a short stay in San Francisco for a couple of years where he worked as a project manager before his wife and he decided to permanently settle in Dallas.
Darrell didn’t know at first that he wanted to work with tile, but when he first heard of SaniGLAZE/Sterling Services, he found the products and concepts exciting and it grabbed his attention. From there he wanted to keep learning more about the company. Darrell’s previous jobs helped him with many of his current job processes with Sterling Services like time management and scheduling. And, it helps that President and CEO Dan Davis has always been available for any questions arising from the job. Darrell was with SaniGLAZE for seven years before Sterling Services took over the Dallas office. From day one communication was key and still holds over a year later.
Some fun facts about Darrell are that he likes to think that he is a jack of all trades and is always soaking up new ideas and concepts. He and his wife Justine have been married for nine years and have two daughters (Olivia – 5 and Amina – 2) whom they pour everything into. Darrell is always volunteering with the school as well as coaching his daughter's soccer team.
